This Ramadan, help bring the words of Allah to the fingertips of the visually impaired by supporting Basirah – The Braille Qur’an, a dedicated project of the Paris Eglantine Institute.
For millions of visually impaired Muslims around the world, access to the Qur’an is limited or unavailable. Through carefully produced Braille Qur’ans, this project restores direct, dignified access to the words of Allah — enabling independent reading, reflection, and connection.
Basirah is a flagship initiative of the Paris Eglantine Institute, an organisation established in 2008 in Paris to promote access to culture and knowledge for people with disabilities. For over 15 years, the Institute has specialised in making essential works accessible to the blind — overseeing the entire publishing process from preparation to final distribution.
This is more than accessibility.
It is inclusion, faith, and mercy in action.
Braille Qur’ans are costly to produce, scarce in supply, and often inaccessible in large parts of the world. A complete Braille Qur’an consists of seven volumes, requiring precision printing, careful binding, and rigorous review.
As a result, countless believers rely on others to recite the Qur’an to them — unable to read, reflect, or return to its verses independently.
This is not a lack of desire.
It is a lack of access.
Basirah – The Braille Qur’an is meticulously produced to ensure accuracy, clarity, and durability.
Each edition is prepared under the supervision of a 9-member review board, safeguarding textual integrity and adherence to the Uthmani script. The Paris Eglantine Institute maintains full control of the publishing process — from manuscript preparation to final production — ensuring consistency and quality at every stage.
Each complete Qur’an includes seven Braille volumes, designed to support a meaningful reading experience through touch.
Your support helps fund the production and global distribution of these Braille Qur’ans to individuals, institutions, and communities that need them most.

What began as modest distribution has now grown into a structured, scalable operation.
750–895 copies distributed annually
5,622 total distributed
9-member scholarly review board
Goal: 2,000 copies annually
10,000 copies every 5 years
€650k–€850k annual operational cost
Behind every Braille Qur’an is a story of perseverance, patience, and deep connection to the Book of Allah.
For someone who has never been able to independently turn the pages of the Qur’an, receiving a Braille copy is transformative — restoring not just access, but autonomy.
Hear from those whose relationship with the Qur’an has been strengthened through access — and from the people working tirelessly to make this possible.
